Deer crashes through Halifax coffee shop
June 22nd, 2011 - 8:14 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattHalifax, June 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A deer ended up at a coffee shop on Monday morning. The animal broke through the window of the café shop startling the patrons who were at the place at that time. According to the owner of the coffee shop when the incident happened the staff and about six customers were present at the shop.
Owner Gordon Stevens explained that, “He was in the main cafe area and then he must have went down by the washrooms, in behind the counter. He knocked over everything in his path.”
The animal escaped from the location and took refuge at a construction site where officials later captured it. No one was injured in the incident but the animal suffered glass cuts which the officials later treated before releasing it into the wild. The officials from the Department of Natural Resources assured that the animal did not suffer any internal injuries.
Stevens said he will not take any precautionary measures in the bid to prevent future recurrence of the incident. He laughed the incident off saying “We’re going to assume this is a one-off event.”
A similar incident happened on Tuesday in the Canadian town of Vaughan. In that instance the animal was shot and killed by officials.
