Honolulu, Hawaii, Oct 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A couple in Honolulu has been arrested for stealing two sandwiches. Officials announced on Saturday that they also took the custody of the couple’s 3-year-old daughter because of the theft.

Officials say the couple stole the sandwich from a Safeway shop in Makiki on Saturday but the shop says they are not sure about that.

In a statement which was released by the supermarket chain, Safeway announced that, “From our preliminary investigation, it appears we may not have handled this matter in the best possible way. We are taking this situation seriously, and giving it our full attention.”

The police don’t seem to believe the account presented by pregnant Nicole and Marcin Leczcyzynski. In an interview, Nicole explained that she was famished and helped herself with the chicken sandwiches while she was shopping at the grocery store. However she admitted that she forgot to pay for it when she was checking out.

Her account is supported by Safeway who confirmed that the family paid for about $50 worth of groceries.

The daughter has currently been sent to the Child Protective Services in the state. The married couple were taken to custody and later issued with a bail of $50 each.
