October 7th, 2010 - 9:32 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattFlushed condoms at the Commonwealth Games Village in India have choked the drains at the village. The incident is the latest setback to hit the games. The games have been hit by fear of dengue fever, snakes and possible disease outbreak.
India was in a race against time to get the village ready for the games and with just days to the games, the successful hosting of the game by India was in doubt. However the organizers and the country managed to beat the odds and the game is already underway in the country.
Their new task however is to clear the thousands of condoms that has clogged the drains at the village of the games.
However Commonwealth officials took a different view of the whole issue. Positively, the Commonwealth Games Federation President, Mike Fennell said the fact that since it were condoms that have choked the drains, so it reveals that the athletes and people at the village in general are being responsible, sexually.
The game organizers gave out some 8,000 condoms at the Commonwealth Games village. An official told reporters on Thursday that about 4,000 of those condoms has already been used.
