Californian woman sues after slipping on banana peel
March 7th, 2011 - 10:47 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattCalifornia, Mar 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A Californian woman is claiming undisclosed amount in damages after she slipped on a banana peel. The 58-year-old woman was shopping in one of the shops of 99 Cents Only when the incident happened.
Ida Valentine claims that she has spent about $9,000 on medical bills since the incident and wants the court to force the store to compensate her. Ida’s suit claims that she suffered herniated disk and tissue damage when she had the accident.
Her lawyer claims that he has tried to get the case settled out of court but executives of 99 Cents Only seems not ready for that. He revealed that an out-of-court settlement offer of $44,000 was rejected by the deep-discounted chain store. Courtney Mikolaj who is representing Ida in court revealed that when she slipped on the banana peel, she fell hard on her backside.
99 Cents Only has not made any comment on the suit.
