California Prison Bans Visitor Hugging and Kissing

October 6th, 2010 - 12:14 am ICT by Angela Kaye Mason

Hugging and kissing has been banned at a minimum security prison in California because authorities there fear that the visitors are giving the prisoners more than just hugs.

The officials at the prison are worried that the inmates are also being given contraband during the greetings of hugs and kisses. Before the ban, the visitors were allowed to have one short hug and a kiss.

According to the Bakersfield Californian, that four of the visitors were discovered back in August to have contraband, which included marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia. From this point on, any visitor caught touching an inmate will be asked to leave.
