British Gas offered swimming lessons to a dead woman

London, Nov 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In one of the high profile goofs, British Gas wrote to a dead woman and offered her swimming lessons amongst other incentives to make her life “simpler”. There has been three such letters despite the fact that the late woman’s son has informed the company of the death of his mother.

The woman - Stella Nesbitt died way back in 2005 and in 2010 British Gas has not amended their records to reflect that. The woman’s son - Rick Nesbitt claims that he informed the company to transfer his mother’s account to his name. However that seem to have not been done because years later the letters come into the mail still addressed to his mother.

That obviously did upset him and he had to confront the company again. The spokesperson for the company said the company has taken responsibility for the mishap and will ensure that it does not occur again.

He said that, “I am sorry for any distress we have caused Mr Nesbitt. We have investigated the matter fully and have amended our records. We will be checking our procedures to try to make sure this doesn’t happen to any other customers.”
