Seattle, Dec 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The notorious “Barefoot Bandit” has been jailed for series of robberies. The judge handed the 20-year-old suspect more than a seven-year jail term which he will serve in a state prison.

When Colton Harris-Moore appeared before the court charged with dozens of robbery, he pleaded guilty. Over a period of about two years, Colton managed to evade arrest as he carried out series of robberies.

Judge Vickie Churchill acknowledged that, “This case is a tragedy in many ways, but it’s a triumph of the human spirit in other ways… I could have been reading about the history of a mass murderer. I could have been reading about a drug abusive, alcoholic young man. That is the triumph of Colton Harris-Moore - he has survived.”

Colton was at the center of the international press series of daring runs with the police. At the height of his hide and seek with the police, Colton stole a plane and flew it from Indiana to Bahamas. He crash landed and was later arrested by the Bahamas’ police after exchange of gunfire.

He showed no reaction after the sentence was read out by the judge. His judge later admitted that Colton was lucky with his sentence. He received the minimum sentence from the just. Colton could have been jailed 10 years for his crimes.
