Apples fall from sky in Coventry
December 15th, 2011 - 8:52 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, Dec 15 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A bizarre incident happened in the British town of Coventry when motorists literally had to duck and avoid being hit by falling apples. On Monday night residents say more than hundred apples rained down from the sky on the major street in the town.
The incident happened just after the rush hour but unfortunate motorists drove straight into it with some having their windscreen and bonnets pelted with the fruits. Most of the drivers were forced to stop driving to avoid crashing their cars.
Officials believe the apples “rain” was caused by a storm that might have carried the fruits from a farm several meters away onto the road. The apples fell intensely at the junction that joins Keresley Road and Kelmscote Road.
Because of the reaction of the motorists, there were no casualties. One motorist told The Telegraph that, “The apples fell out of the sky as if out of nowhere. They were small and green and hit the bonnet hard. There were other cars on the road at the time too and everyone had to stop their cars suddenly.”
The apples were still lying on the shoulder on the road on Wednesday. Officials do not yet the actual cause of the apple rain.
