Gainesville, May 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A deputy in Gainesville Florida suffered an unusual car accident when he responded to a call about an animal nuisance near the local Golf and Country Club around 7 p.m., Sunday evening. Deputy Victor Borerro drove out to investigate the call only to find a ten foot alligator waiting for him. In order to trap the animal, Borerro enlisted the aid of a local trapper, then sat in his car waiting for the him to show up. The gator didn’t want to wait, however, and as onlookers videotaped the scene, it went head to head with it’s ‘attacker’, the deputy’s car.

Grabbing the car’s bumper with his snout, the alligator tried to pull the car back, as deputy Borerro revved and backed up his vehicle. A tug of war ensued, and for a while it wasn’t clear who was going to win. Inevitably, the car’s superior horsepower showed that the alligator had bitten off far more than he could chew. His bite was a pretty serious one, however, as the car’s front bumper sustained serious damage.

The reptile was eventually captured when the trapper showed up. A spokeswoman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said that the alligator had to be put down under the state’s nuisance gator policy. This would entitle the trapper to keep the gator’s meat and hide.
