Jan 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 5 foot long ‘friendly’ monitor lizard returned to his owner Wednesday but not before the California neighbourhood was scared of him. The mild natured Lizard was seen by the Riverside residents and some of them freaked out seeing the large animal strolling on the streets. He did not show any aggression though. Tom Casarez Jr. The owner of Elmer was very happy to get back his beloved pets and his family members were also jubilant. The Monitor Lizard escaped into the street when the owner’s brother was cleaning his tank. It took place on Sunday and thereafter the family members were searching frantically for their beloved pet.
The cute reptile stayed outdoors for two days and on Tuesday he was spotted near the owner’s home. The neighbours were alarmed and they informed the cops. The cops came and caged the animal with the help of an animal services officer. At that time the lizard became a bit angry and lashed its tail. However, he liked the people at the shelter he was kept owing to his friendly nature. Before returning the reptile to his owner the reptile expert of the department checked his tank and declared it safe for the creature. The Lizard is a nice companion according to the owner’s family and he can recognize his voice as well.
The owner of Elmer said that these reptiles are nice creatures as long as one treats them decently. Elmer also likes to watch TV with his owner and he puts on Animals Planet for him. Tom Casarez Sr., the father of Elmer’s owner even said that the pet is like his grandson!
