10 year old pulls out gun in Trick or Treating
November 4th, 2011 - 9:30 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattAiken, S.C., Nov 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A 10-year-old boy allegedly pulled a gun at a woman who joked about taking his Trick or Treat candies. The woman told the police that the child also used cursed words on her during the confrontation.
Police say the gun was not loaded but the boy had a clip of ammunition on him when he was searched. Another boy allegedly told the woman that he also had a gun on him but that claim was not substantiated.
The boy was taken to the police station and held until the parents came to get him. Aiken Department of Public Safety’s Juvenile Division’s Captain MaryAnn Burgess told reporters that, “There have been some tragic consequences to some of these cases in the past. Thankfully, this one did not end up in a tragedy, so we’re thankful that she called. We’ll be looking at their family situation to make sure we don’t have any more situations of this magnitude with these little boys.”
The police suspect that the boy took the gun from his grandfather. It is likely that the older man had no idea that the boy had taken the weapon. The officers are closely monitoring the family to ensure that the incident is not repeated.
