Washington, Jan 28, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Minority leader of the House of Representatives, Republican John Boehner, made his opinions clear on the matter of the trials that are supposed to be held in New York City of the five men who have been detained as terror suspects in the case of the 9/11 attacks on the United States of America. This declaration has come in the wake of the controversy that is already raging about the trial of the Nigerian terrorist who had attempted to blow up a Detroit bound airplane on Christmas Day last year.
This opinion of Representative John Boehner merely echoes the feelings of the other Republicans in the Senate, who have been creating quite an uproar over the decision of the Attorney General Eric Holder of holding a civil trial of the Nigerian bombing suspect. Representative John Boehner has declared that the trials of those detained at Guantanamo Bay would definitely not be held in New York City, adding that the Democrat government does not have the necessary votes that would enable them to hold the trials in the civilian courts of the city, as it would require a change in the law.
John Boehner further added that if the President attempts to actually move the detainees into the civilian courts of the New York City, it would require further expenditure incurred for the refurbishment of the Illinois prisons, where they would be inmates during the trial. He also mentioned that such a move would be the agenda for the political campaign for the midterm elections for the Republicans, if it is indeed executed by the Democrats.
