K RosaiahNov 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The political scene in Andhra Pradesh in India took a turn as the chief minister K. Rosaiah stepped down citing his age and health related reasons. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy the speaker of the assembly will succeed him. Pranab Mukherjee the senior Congress leader said after a CLP meeting that “Sonia Gandhi has named Kiran Kumar Reddy as the new leader”. The outgoing CM refuted the theory that his resignation had something to do with political pressure. When he returned his home yesterday evening it was apparent that things had changed for him. There was hardly any media person or visitor at his home.

For the residents staying near his residence at Dharamkaran Road in Ameerpet, it was a change that they did not expect. Suddenly there was no stringent security checks and police vigil round the clock. The locals had to put up with many restrictions on their lives even a day back. The convoy of the CM was another pain for them. The close Congress aides said that the party may offer him the post of a governor as compensation. The resignation of K Rosaiah came at a time when Congress is facing a dire crisis in Andhra Pradesh for Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy.

K. Rosaiah took the role of the CM after late Y.S.R. Reddy his predecessor to the post passed away after a chopper crash last year. He said before submitting his resignation to the governor that he did his bit as the CM of the state and will lend a helping had to his successor. He had also expressed his thanks to the senior leaders at the state and national levels for the co operation he received from them.
