Want to shed those extra festive pounds? Wait a couple of weeks
December 31st, 2010 - 6:02 pm ICT by ANILondon, Dec 31 (ANI): A new study has suggested that waiting a couple of weeks before starting a diet to shed the extra festive pounds could be more beneficial.
The study found that four out of five will struggle to stick to healthy eating plans that kick off on January 1, with nearly half blaming the cold weather raising cravings for comfort food instead of salads.
But psychologist Dr Linda Papadopoulos says that if we wait and start our diets on January 15, we are more likely to be successful.
“People struggle to change eating habits at the start of January as they find it stressful going back to work and getting the kids back to school, not to mention coping with the worry of Christmas bills,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.
“If you wait until January 15 you will have a much higher chance of sticking to healthy eating habits that should last you all year long,” she added.
According to Sainsbury’s Diets, about 45 percent of slimmers stick to their diet for at least six weeks. (ANI)
