Valentines for Mom

Valentines gift Feb 4 (THAINDIAN NEWS) With Valentine’s Day less than two weeks away, I thought that perhaps I would write today’s article on different gift ideas for moms. Some of these are absolutely free, and can be given by younger kids, others are more from older children, or husbands, but all of them are sure to make Valentine’s Day special for some special mom!

The first Valentine’s are entirely up to you how much they cost. You can either choose to give the service yourself, or pay someone to do so. For smaller kids, these can be made with construction paper, glue, crayons, whatever they will have fun using. Older kids and husbands, friends, etc, can create and print these out on a computer. The idea is age old, and I have even mentioned it myself, but today will go into more detailed ideas.

Gift Cards to pamper her are still a great idea for mom. It can be either for a massage, pedicure or manicure, facial, etc. Makeovers, including hair and make-up are a good plan. For a fun day with mom, kids, (or adults) can offer to give these “treatments” themselves as well, which can be great fun! One of my fondest memories when my kids were younger was of them using every hair-bow in the house, and getting a round hair brush completely tangled in my hair during a “make-over.” I am sure I looked quite silly, with bows sticking out at odd angles all over my head, but the memory now, since my kids have grown, makes me smile more than anything they could have bought me. If older kids, or dad wants to get mom a professional manicure, pedicure, make-over, etc, you can simply buy her a gift card from a shop nearby which provides these services. A gift card from a day spa is also a great idea.

A gift that is great for working moms, and easier for older kids, is maid service for a month. Whether you can afford to get her a regular cleaning service to come in, or you will do the work yourself, she will love this!

Speaking of gift cards, what about a gift card from online sights, such as Amazon, etc. This will let mom choose her own gift from the comfort of home! These gift cards can even be electronic, sent through emails, which makes them an awesome idea for those who live far away from mom.

Another great idea for those who cannot be there in person to give her a gift, is the age old, “flowers for your Valentine.” If she works, send them to her workplace! She will love getting to show off to her co-workers what her kid(s) sent her for Valentine’s Day. Also, if she has a green thumb, buy potted plants, or those she can transplant to her flower beds. You can also send her chocolates, cookies, cakes, almost anything can be delivered now days!

Cook her a meal! Breakfast in bed is always a great choice, but so is a nice dinner! Even if you lack in culinary skills, you can pick up a nice dinner from a local deli, or restaurant, and eat in at home with mom. Remember: Wash the dishes for her! Taking her out is also a welcomed break from her having to cook dinner.

Whatever you decide to do for mom, most importantly, just remind her throughout the day how special and loved that she is. No matter the cost of the gift, whether expensive or free, it is all about love, and as I have said before, love doesn’t cost a thing!

Sorry hun, I just got this question. Yes, if you have just crayons and paper you can make her a card. You can also use the red or pink crayons to make the paper red and then tear it into strips. Take those strips and twirl them around a straw, but tape one end to the straw first. As the paper goes around the straw, shape it like a rose. Give her a few of the roses with a card that you made and write you own poem. BE SURE TO TELL MOM YOU LOVE HER! Also, offer to brush her hair, wash the dishes, rub her back, any little thing that she loves. Happy Valentines Day hun, your mom is very lucky to have a sweet daughter like you.
