Dec 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) University of Georgia is offering early admission to its students. The declaration of the early admission thrilled 6,100 high school seniors, who are now assured about their admission to the university, which declared its admitted candidates yesterday.
In most cases, the university declares the admission after the Christmas Holiday. However, since it declared the list earlier this year, it made the Christmas holiday of many people tensionless. All those students who have been selected by the university, got to know about their admission status from the official website of the university the using the password-protected status check. Other way was their iPhone with the UGA Admissions Application. Nancy McDuff, associate vice president for admissions and enrollment management said that this year the quality and the standards of the students got much better than last year. The university received 10,600 student application this year, which is about 100 more than that in 2009. Out of them only 6,100 should be selected. However, it is not just UGA that saw an increase in the number of applicants this year. Reportedly, there has been a 15 percent increase in the Georgia Tech, and a 21 percent increase in the Georgia State University.
Scott Burke, the director of admissions at Georgia State said that they decided to take this decision as students find it more convenient, if they come to know within December and January, that they have atleast one college in hand. It has been reported that last year, all those colleges who offered early admission, could admit more students than those who declared it later.
