Pratibha Patil New Delhi, Nov 11 (IANS) A screening committee under filmmaker Shyam Benegal has selected two film projects on Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore which will be made with financial assistance from the government Culture Minister Selja said Friday.

“The committee has approved one proposal from Rituparno Ghosh for a documentary titled ‘Home and World’ (Ghare Baire) and one from Buddhadeb Dasgupta for producing 13 documentary films based on 13 poems from Tagore,” Kumari Selja said.

A six-pack movie DVD on the bard’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations compiled by the culture ministry has sold more than 14,000 copies in the market, she said.

The DVD is being sub-titled in eight major foreign languages, she said. The DVD pack was a collaboration between the culture ministry and the information and broadcasting ministry.

Kumari Selja said the “ministry of culture has received several proposals for the installation of Tagore’s busts during the commemoration year”.

“One such bust has already been installed in the University of Lausanne in Switzerland which was unveiled by President Pratibha Patil in October,” she said.

“Two more busts will be installed in Israel and Columbia,” she added.
