Transgender Amanda Simpson Appointed As Senior Technical Advisor

Jan 5, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a development that can boost the morale of the LGBT community, Amanda Simpson has been selected as the Commerce Department’s senior technical advisor. The appointment has been made by President Barack Obama. She has become the first presidential appointees among the transgenders. Before changing her gender she was Mitchell Simpson, a test pilot. The 49 year old lady was born as a boy. However, she changed her gender through a sex change operation a decade back.
In 2004, Amanda Simpson was the only transgender candidate open about her sexuality to win a US primary election race for Arizona state legislature. However, she did not win the general election. She is quite delighted with her new appointment and said that she would try to deliver her level best. According to her, this appointment will usher in a new dawn of possibilities for the Transgender community. However, the White House has not stated whether she is the first ever transgender presidential appointee in the history of the USA.
The political analysts think that Amanda Simpson is sure to bring professional credential to her new position. She has more than two decades of experience in defense and aerospace industry. She is highly qualified as well and has degrees in Business administration, engineering and physics. Besides, she has background in aviation sector. Her contribution in political circle and community groups has been considerable. Amanda Simpson has worked in the board of Directors in NCTE and Out & Equal. It is expected that she will live up to the expectation in her new role.
