New York, July 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The 12th of July every year has been set aside as the Different Colored Eyes Day. The day is used to celebrate the diversity in eye color among people. The day is also used to highlight a condition called Heterochromia. People with this condition have different eye color for each eye.

Some high profile personalities like Jane Seymour, David Bowie, Christopher Walken and Mila Kunis all have the condition. People with Heterochromia may have one of their eyes colored brown with the other colored green.

The color of the eye plays an important role in how a person looks. There are several eye colors including hazel, black, grey, shades of blue, shades of brown and shades of green. Some parents have taken steps to influence the color of their children’s eyes.

The only problem that people with Heterochromia have is that they cannot use their eye for identification test. Scientists say the condition may be hereditary, due to an accident or disease or may be caused by a syndrome. When the condition is not caused by infection or accident, doctors usually do not take further steps after testing.

Heterochromia does not only affect humans. The condition is common in animals like cats, dogs and even horses as well.
