Mumbai, June 19 (ANI/Business Wire India ): Champions are made from something they have deep inside them– a desire, a dream, and a vision, said legendary boxer Muhammad Ali.

This statement was personified by the Indian Cricket team during the 1983 World Cup, who played like true champions to create history.

Today as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 1983 World Cup, TIMES NOW has taken the initiative to line up four exclusive shows to relive the journey of India ’s victory.

Arnab Gowami, Editor-in-chief, TIMES NOW and anchor of the show “Frankly Speaking”, invited Kapil Dev for a tete-a tete on the show, where Kapil Dev gets emotional remembering the magic that led to the famous victory on the 25th of June 1983. He shares inside stories and gets nostalgic talking about the special moment.

Kapil Dev, the skipper of the 1983 Indian Cricket team lead the entire tournament by example with his pace bowling and whirlwind knocks that set the stage for a memorable Indian victory.

He and his team mates: Kirti Azad and Syed Kirmani got together with Charu Sharma in two special episodes in the show “How the World Was Won”. They express their experiences as a team, the challenges they faced and obstacles they overcame to win the finals. They reminisce on how God was on India ’s side in the final and together they take us through special moments from the semi-final & final of the 1983 victory.

Commenting on this unique initiative Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-chief, TIMES NOW said, “I was very young when India won the world cup in 1983, but till date every time I watch India play I long to experience the feeling that I did back then. The four special shows dedicated to the 1983 world cup is a tribute to all the players, who have made India proud. I am confident that every Indian who loves the game of cricket will not want to miss out on these special shows.”

TIMES NOW has lined up the world premiere of a special documentary, “1983: India ’s World Cup” with rare footage, interviews with members of the legendary 1983 World Cup winning team and perspective of cricketers from players of other countries.
