Spaniard named chef of the year in US
May 11th, 2011 - 11:40 am ICT by IANSNew York, May 11 (IANS/EFE) Jose Andres of Spain has won the James Beard Foundation award for outstanding chef of the year in the US. The awards are popularly known as the Oscars of gastronomy.
Andres dedicated his award to the “people of America”.
“im ssssssooooo happy! thanks to all. People of america! thanks for all! my award goes to you all!” Andres wrote on Twitter after the awards gala in New York.
The renowned chef won the prize for his Minibar by Jose Andres, a six-seat eatery in Washington.
Andres also owns The Bazaar in Los Angeles and Washington restaurants Jaleo, Zaitinya, Cafe Atlantico and Oyamel.
