July 28 (THANDIAN NEWS) Serendipity 3 Restaurant in New York has made a name for itself by being the first in a number of strange achievements, and thereby being added to the Guinness Book of World Records. First they created The World’s Most Expensive Ice Cream Sundae, and then it was The World’s Largest Hot Chocolate. On Friday, Serendipity struck again, this time with The World’s Most Expensive Hot Dog, which sold for $69.
With a touch of irony, the restaurant sold the 69 dollar hot dog to a woman from South Carolina on “National Hot Dog Day”. Trudy Tant had no thoughts earlier in the day of making the news by purchasing the huge hot dog, since she was just in the area with her mother and daughter. They were all three there simply to see the famous restaurant.
The hot dog itself was created from the three foot long Serendipity 3 beef hot dog which normally sells for around 9 dollars. It is then grilled in white truffle oil, and served on a pretzel type bun, which is also toasted in white truffle butter. They topped it off with foie gras pate with black truffles.
The condiments which are served with the dog include Dijon mustard with black truffles, caramelized Vidalia onions and a ketchup which is made form heirloom tomatoes and is much like a tart tomato relish. It will be available to the public as soon as the menus are remade to include this 69 dollar hot dog.
