Red ramp, muted tones highlight of Seema Singh’s show
November 20th, 2010 - 10:27 pm ICT by IANSPune, Nov 20 (IANS) Pune-based designer Seema Singh’s dazzling collection on the final day of Pune Fashion Week (PFW), was a treat for fashion aficionados for its earthy tones and Indo-western designs. The red ramp, with a glass coating on the corners, added an edge.
The show started with a bang with brilliant lighting, thanks to the disco balls hanging from the ceiling. The effect created drama and accentuated the whole look of the garments.
The collection began with anarkali suits, lehangas and churidar suits going on to cocktail dresses - both long and short. The colours used were shades of natural earth combined with sunburnt orange, red and purple.
“I wanted to keep the collection subtle so I used touches of colours like orange and purple with largely earthy colours like browns and grays,” Singh told IANS.
As far as fabrics are concerned, textured net, crepe, tissue in combination with raw silk, georgette and satin were seen. Embroidery was far and wide but a lot of brocade was noticed.
Another interesting facet of the collection was colourful brocade chappals that were a melange of flats and boots.
“I love brocade and hence to add a touch of that to the collection, I outsourced these footwear from somewhere,” revealed the designer.
The show concluded with model Nethra Raghuraman showcasing a beautiful orange fluffy gown with self orange embroidery.
Singh, who had also showcased her collection in the first season of PFW, expressed that the second season was more organised and she enjoyed being a part of it.
“In the first season we did face few teething problems because that was the first time a fashion week was held in Pune, but this year around has been great,” she said.
