Recession has no impact on Suzuki says company’’s top officialNovember 26th, 2008 - 9:08 pm ICT by ANI
New Delhi, Nov 26 (ANI): Global recession has not affected us said Katsumi Takata, Joint Managing Director of Japanese two-wheeler giant Suzuki during the launch of their super bike Hayabusa in New Delhi on Wednesday.
May be recession is starting, may be from the last month. May be this trend continues for a while but so far, as far as we are concerned, we are still growing. Every month we are going up, said Takata.
Meawhile, Suzuki launched its popular super bike Hayabusa along with another sports bike Intruder M1800R in a glittering unveiling ceremony.
Both Hayabusa and Intruder have a price tag of 12.5 million rupees.
The company is eyeing young and young at heart bike enthusiasts with enough money in purse to purchase the bike.
Speaking about the initial selling target Atul Gupta, vice president, sales and marketing, said, We want to tell to the Indian consumer that this is what Suzuki is, this is what, globally Suzuki is capable of or is known. Going to the number, whatever market study we have done, we feel about 350 bike a year, both put together Intruder and Hayabusa is our target.
The units to be put on sale may seem meager to many but the price tag, which they carry makes this number realistic as rates of both Intruder and Hayabusa are beyond the reach of a majority of population.
The bike enthusiasts think that the bikes will have a definite presence in the growing Indian market.
As I said that India is growing, there is market (for the bike). These bikes can fetch good market. There (are people) who have craze for super bikes, so they (Suzuki) will share a large market in India, said Chirag Goyal, bike enthusiast.
Despite the global recessionary trends, Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited has launched the super sports motorbike.
Like the rest of the Japanese bike makers, even Suzuki has seen an increase in its production. Its production has gone up by 36 per cent and its sales have risen by 29 per cent. (ANI)
