Oct 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Many people unknowingly waste one of the tastiest snacks ever while carving pumpkins. Seldom are people aware of the potential of the pumpkin seeds as a delicious form of snacks. A few people have decided to share their recipes for pumpkin seeds this year to add more flavor to the spirit of Halloween. The reason why the seeds do not appear to be edible on a first glance is due to its sticky pulp which must be cleansed thoroughly with water. Here is the process for turning the dry seeds into a dish of splendid taste.
Heat your oven to a temperature of 325 degree Fahrenheit and have the pumpkin seeds ready, properly cleaned and dried. Toss the seeds in a bowl with 1/4 cup of melted butter and half a tablespoon of salt. Bake the mixture for 25 minutes by spreading it on cookie sheet. Stir Occasionally. Feel free to experiment with the recipe by adding some spice to it. A few variations of the recipe are as follows, add half a tablespoon of garlic salt and one tablespoon of soya sauce to the mixture and bake for the said amount of time. One can have the snacks to taste sour by adding ginger, allspice and cinnamon.
The proportion in which the spices is used will give the dish a different taste each time. Another simple and oven free method for cooking pumpkin seeds is to boil the pumpkin seeds in the water in a proportion of two cups of water for every half cup of seeds. After 10 minutes of boiling the seed, take them out and let them dry. In a pan put little bit of butter and add the pumpkin seeds to it. When the seeds turn slightly brown put some onion powder, garlic powder and salt. Turn off the gas when the seeds turn golden brown. Allow it to cool and serve with garlic paste.
