Oct 4, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Great news for the Porsche fans as the automobile giants confirmed at the Paris Motor Show recently that it is developing the plug-in electrical version of the Panamera sedan. Porsche, however, said that it has no plans to showcase the car to the public at any of the shows in the near future. The company CEO told the media that the car has been created for engineering purposes but revealed that it has an 8-cylinder turbocharged engine.
Porsche CEO, Mathias Mueller, confirmed that the company is in talks of making the car for commercial purposes but no production decision has been made yet. He also said that he had personally taken the hybrid version of the Porsche Panamera sedan for a drive and it was ‘amazing’. The news comes as a surprise for many as the company had announced earlier this year that it is researching on three electric cars based on the Porsche Boxster. With almost all the major companies looking to develop hybrid and electric cars, Porsche was expected to join the race.
The Panamera sedan has been one of the most innovative and stylish sedans from Porsche in recent years. The car has several versions and all of them are fitted with V8 and V6 engines. The plug-in prototype that has already been developed by the company reportedly has a 500hp V8 engine. Though the machine is yet to be seen by the public, it is expected that the hybrid version will have some serious power and speed. Reports suggest that the company’s engineers will decide on the production front of the vehicle at the end of the year. The pricing and all other details are expected to trickle in then.
