Pete Doherty gets crucified on marble!June 11th, 2008 - 3:06 pm ICT by ANI
London, Jun 11 (ANI): English musician Pete Doherty has commissioned a sculpture of himself on a cross for his upcoming solo show in London.
The Babyshambles frontmans disturbing artwork will be carved in marble and show Doherty being tortured, surrounded by strips of newspapers, symbolising his crucifixion by the media.
The mould for the statue of the troubled singer, is being prepared by his artist friend Nick Reynolds, for which he has been spending hours, holed up with Doherty and his team.
Reynolds is using the cast as a reference point to make an accurate sculpture, and it will be the centrepiece of a book by Reynolds called Heroes And Villains.
If the sculpture is finished on time, it will appear on stage with Pete at his Royal Albert Hall gig on July 12.
Reynolds, who insists he came up with the idea a long time ago, says it has taken three years to come through.
I was quite pally with Michael Hutchence and Paula Yates and their love affair like Pete and Kates (Moss) went a bit sour. The negative Press put a downward spiral on them, the Sun quoted him as saying.
And when I saw the Press that Pete was getting, it made me think of them.
I saw the same pattern. As if Pete was being crucified by the Press, he added. (ANI)
