Oz blokes caught in online shopping net
November 19th, 2010 - 6:08 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Nov 19 (ANI): It’s not only women who like to splurge while shopping, even men do that but in a different way-they are spending at the click of a computer or smart phone.
A report on the nation’s Internet habits has confirmed the surging popularity of online shopping and reveals more men are buying on the web than women.
Furniture, electrical appliances, computers, music and movies are among men’s favourite purchases. However, women outperformed blokes on clothes, shoes, and health and beauty products.
Latest Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) research has revealed that almost nine in 10 Internet users are making online transactions.
Banking and paying bills are the top activities. Six in 10 have also bought products and services.
ACMA chairman Chris Chapman said consumers were increasingly confident about delving into the digital age.
“The internet is empowering consumers to purchase more economically and efficiently by making it easier to locate goods and services and often to compare costs,” News.com.au quoted Chapman, as saying. (ANI)
