London, April 23 (IANS) The bedroom is no longer the setting for romance, a new survey has found.

Overworked Britons would rather check their email or update pages of the social networking sites Facebook between the sheets, reports express.co.uk.

Making love came just sixth in the poll of British adults’ favourite bedroom activities with sex losing out to the lures of the laptop.

Most of the 4,000 people questioned put sex way down their list, after sleeping, reading, watching TV, listening to music and surfing the internet.

One in seven treated their bed as another place to get work done.

Women were more likely to read in bed and men more likely to watch TV.

Men were keener than women for romance outside the bedroom with the living room bathroom, kitchen and garden favoured places.

Amanda Jones, of the bed manufacturer Silentnight, which commissioned the survey said: “Given the long hours we work and the stresses and strains we are under, it’s no wonder we see their bedrooms as a sanctuary in which to relax.”
