Now party for a social cause
January 11th, 2012 - 8:16 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )New Delhi, Jan 11 (IANS) Sometimes you party to catch up with friends and sometimes to chill out. Here’s a chance to party for a social cause — the newly-launched Sura Vie Lounge in the capital is hosting an evening and the proceeds from the sale of passes will be donated to an NGO that works for underprivileged.
Sura Vie Lounge in central Delhi will host live performances by popular bands Half Step Down and B.L.O.T Thursday night and donate the money to NGO Aashray Adhikar Abhiyan (AAA).
“As an organisation, we believe in working with the underprivileged and giving back to the society. We also believe the NGO’s cause in supporting the homeless is very humane and in alignment with our thinking,” Manish Tandon, managing director of Sura Vie Lounge, told IANS.
“The need for the homeless to be given shelters is very important. Given the severe cold wave in Delhi, we decided to organise a party to bring the plight of the homeless to the people and to support them in our little way,” added Tandon.
Though entry passes are priced at Rs.250, one can pay more to make the evening more successful for the cause.
The bands have agreed to play for free.
“We would like to thank Half Step Down and B.L.O.T. who have agreed to play for us without any charge to allow us to give the entire gate proceeds to charity. The highlight of the evening will be the performance by these great teams of musicians,” said Tandon.
The organisers are expecting party enthusiasts and Delhi socialites to show up in good numbers, and donate generously.
Tandon said: “Our gate money is Rs.250 per head. We hope to raise anywhere between Rs.75,000 to Rs.100,000. Delhi’s party people are very conscious of their social responsibility and we believe they will support this and similar such causes with great enthusiasm.”
