Now, a DIY duvet that allows different thickness on each side
January 15th, 2011 - 4:35 pm ICT by ANILondon, Jan 15 (ANI): A couple has created a double duvet that can be adjusted for couples, who prefer different thickness on their sides.
Ian and Ruth Pressman have created CosyCool, a DIY 150-pound duvet, the idea for which came up after years of sleepless nights caused by a duvet that Ruth thought was the perfect temperature but that kept Ian awake because he was over-heating.
“My wife and I had suffered from sleep problems for years, as soon as we got together it was clear we liked to have very different duvets. She wanted a thicker one to stay warm and I was happier with a thinner one,” the Daily Mail quoted Ian as saying.
“We were so exhausted, we didn’t know how either of us made it through each day on the amount of sleep we were getting,” he added.
“I just suddenly thought, what we need is so simple - a duvet which is thicker on one side than it is on the other and can be changed whenever you feel like it.”
However, they couldn’t find anything that seemed to fit their requirement, so they came up with their own idea - the CosyCool.
Ruth, 42, thought it was an excellent idea.
“‘I like to be really snuggled up in bed, you can hardly see me because I have it pulled up so high. But I found that, especially in winter when it got colder, Ian would be happy with the same thin duvet we had in the summer so I would try putting blankets on my side to stay warm but they just fell off,” she said.
“Now when the weather changes I just add some more togs on to my side and it’s perfect for me,” Ruth added.
The duvet can have up to five parts, depending on the couples’ preferences. The main, normal-sized duvet has a 4.5 tog rating but can have two additional 4.5 tog half duvets attached on each side using buttons. They are fastened to the main duvet either above or below it and then tucked inside the cover.
Ian said, “Since we’ve been selling the CosyCool I’ve had people calling up and saying it has saved them.”
“No-one wants to be arguing with their partner over something as small as a duvet, so this can prevent that.” (ANI)
