London, Dec 26 (ANI): ‘None Of The Above’, ‘Funky McFunkmaster’ and ‘Lydia Mary Paper Scissors Stone’-these are just some of the bizarre names Britons have changed to this year, which is a record according to a deed poll.

Other uncanny choices include ‘Ice Man’, ‘George Thomas The Tank Engine’ and ‘Blair Coco Lucy St Lucy Hot Pink Delorean Big Wednesday Chanel’.

These strange but legally recognised names were among the 50,000 changes registered with the UK Deed Poll Service in 2009, an eight per cent increase on 2008.

Many people wanted to change their name after a divorce, but others it was just a way for “bringing a bit of cheer” to their life or just because they “fancied a change”.

“The recession has not slimmed down the British appetite for changing names,” the Daily Express quoted Mike Barratt, chief executive of the UK Deed Poll Service, as saying.

None Of The Above, 50, of Chingford, Essex, used to be Adam Neil Osen.

He said: “My wife hates it and there is no way whatsoever she will change her name. My brother and I did it as a bit of joke and we are now planning to become MPs.” (ANI)
