Nomadic look in vogue at WIFW
October 27th, 2010 - 8:20 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 27 (IANS) Designer Charu Parasher’s collection on the final day of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) saw modern divas transforming into free spirited nomadic women.
The show started with a model walking the ramp dressed as a tribal queen, ushered by her lady guards and tribal beats in the background enhanced the feel of the show.
The collection titled “Primeval Future” boast of vibrant colours, peacock prints and mostly consisted of flowy off-shoulder dresses embellished with sequence work. The fabrics used were satin, chiffon, cotton and georgettes.
“We are into the future, but we are forgetting where we have come from. We are too much into the it’ thing. My collection is an attempt to get back to the roots and cherish it,” Charu told reporters after the show.
Designers Ashish, Viral and Vikrant, who design for the label “Virtues”, also took inspiration from the same theme.
Titled “Gypsy Masala”, their collection had simplistic silhouettes coupled with vibrant colours. It saw an extensive use of layers and combination of various textures in airy fabrics.
Most of the creation was in cotton and linen and the designers used a colour palette full of mustard yellow, indigo, crimson red, green, henna and white.
And their offering included, dresses, linen jackets with churidar pants, tunics with a touch of Indianness and skirts.
”
“Gypsy people are very colourful and vibrant so we thought why not play around with the colours and give the collection a gypsy loo”,” said Vikrant.
