New Jersey Considers A Beach For Women To Go Topless

June 26, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): With the change in tastes of the vacationers’, New Jersey town is also trying to update its beaches. The owner of Asbury Park yoga studio Reggie Flimlin requested the counsel to think about her idea of allowing women to go topless on the Eighth Avenue Beach. The council of Asbury Park is now considering the proposal of allowing topless bathing.

Reggie said that the women should be given the right to decide whether they would like to wear something or go topless in certain sections of the beach. This beach is not a secluded one like the others in the garden State and the boardwalk is in prime view.

However, this approach has raised many eyebrows as they worry, it may take away the families arriving with the children.

According to Riggie, if men are free to go bare top then why women can’t take the decision of going bare. Flimlin said, “The place is so far from the boardwalk and close to the bank that it does not come in the face of the people.”

There is a mixed reaction on the issue, some people are supporting Riggie’s view while others say it’s a disgusting idea.

Asbury Park resident Marisa Dixon opined saying, “The women should feel comfortable without tops as men do and I think it is absolutely a great idea.”

But her sister, Miranda Dixon has a different opinion. She said, “It sounds disgusting. Women can express their right but, here, where kids come to play?”

The city counsel has asked for a full report on this proposal of going topless. He wants to hear both side opinions in next month before taking any decision.

Well, if the proposal is accepted then the beach will probably lose some of its family vacationers.
