marijuana April 20, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Very few people know that April 20th is the National Weed Day. It is also known as 420 or 4/20 day. The term 420 or 4/20 relates to the smoking of pot. The origin of the term dates back to the 1970s when students of the San Rafael High School in Northern California used to meet at a particular location to smoke pot. Their call time back then was 4:20pm. Thus the term 420 or 4/20 was coined.

Also known as Marijuana Appreciation Day, the yearly event celebrates all facets related to pot, including merriments throughout the more broadminded parts of North America. The largest National Weed Day events are held at the University of Colorado, Ottawa, Vancouver, and several towns in New Zealand.

Use of Marijuana is prohibited in many countries. Therefore, people refer to it by the pseudonym 4/20 or 420 in their messages.

Marijuana refers to any amount of preparations of the Cannabis plant designed for utilization as a psychoactive drug. Although there maybe some advantageous consequences in using Marijuana, it has more injurious effects for the human body particularly if it is smoked excessively. Medical studies have divulged that long-term Marijuana users hallucinate or experience psychedelic characteristics.
