July 13, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Money Magazine has announced its annual list of the best 100 places to live in America. This list has been prepared after exploring the minds of the American settlers,.

Eden Prairie, which is considered to be a family-friendly town, has topped this year’s list. It has almost a full point below the national average of the unemployment rate and a population of 64,000. So, with these figures, this town becomes the perfect choice for relocation. Money Magazine has described it as the greatest and finest small city to for living in the United States of America.

This year’s list of Money Magazine has chopped off the names off places with low salaries and more job losses and places where housing is very expensive with poor school systems. These are important issues for a family who is looking for a fresh start.

With a tattered economy, it is quite acceptable for Americans to prefer simple landscapes with good schools and job security. They are now choosing comfort rather than excitement.

The top 18 places in the Money Magazine’s list are places with less than 100,000 people, where houses are available at affordable rates and job security is strong. Low crime rate is another criterion for selecting the top towns.

Appleton, which was ranked 96, had a population of 72,400 as of 2009. Appleton’s director of community development, Karen Harkness, said, “This area can offer a high quality of life at an affordable rate. Here, the municipality is financially responsible and the residents here influence many positive aspects of the community.
