New York, Nov 1 (ANI): Republican presidential candidate John McCain will take time out from his last minute swing state campaigning to make an SNL” appearance where as his rival Barack Obamas supporter Ben Affleck will do a satirical skit version of his Countdown with Keith Olbermann on Saturday Night Live this weekend.
The Arizona senator has described himself as pretty good at stand up comedy and may hope to show his less desperate - and more humorous - side in a last-minute appeal to the shows newly re-ignited audience before voters head to the polls on November 4.
McCain will make his third appearance on the show Saturday, his spokesmen said on Friday.
Ben Affleck hosts the last new SNL before the Tuesday election and American Idol winner David Cook is musical guest.
McCain isnt bad at this kind of thing; he hosted the show in 2002 and turned in a funny commentary last May. And hes much better in the role of McCain than, say, Darrel Hammond.
McCains running mate, Sarah Palin, appeared on the show on October 18, Saturday Night Live earned its best ratings in 14 years.
SNL regular Darrell Hammond impersonates McCain on the late-night show, now in its 34th season.
McCain last appeared on Saturday Night Live in May, after clinching the nomination and while the Democratic primary continued.
The 72-year-old Arizona senator joked about his age, saying: I ask you, what should we be looking for in our next president? Certainly, someone who is very, very, very old.
When McCain hosted SNL in 2002, he mocked singer Barbra Streisands political advocacy by performing a medley of her songs, CBS News reported. (ANI)
