Manba Fashion Sweeps Over Britain

The Japanese Manba fashion is taking over the streets of Britain in a fast paced way. The popular underground youth culture in Japan that makes a rebellious fashion statement and takes a stand against traditional rules on perception of eastern beauty is gaining wide swept popularity throughout and reaching across about half of the world to be embraced by the youths in the far flung Britain. Manba culture also involves its own form of dance routine that is somewhat like and resembles a form of line dancing.
The Manba culture involves the followers sporting dark tans all over their face with white make-up lining the eyes and hair; sometimes also the lips, with a likely combination of neon colors. When those who practices this culture, darken their skin, widen their eyes and start wearing vivid blue contact lenses, they take a stand against ‘fixed’ norms of fair skinned white beauty. The eye catching statement against the conservative conformity is a kind of silent protest, which has been in existence well over a decade and aims to place women as the higher sex.
In Japan, the Manba culture is also known as the ganguro, gonguro, yamamba and mamba. Yama-uba is the name of a mountain hag in the Japanese folklore whom the fashion is thought to have been inspired from.
However, it is a very ironic situation because the Manba culture has been adopted by the naturally fair skinned youths of Britain now. According to the BBC, this latest adopted fashion has caught the obsession of the Brit teens. This culture is a complete package and is accompanied along with its own genre of music besides the dance routine.
