London apartment sells for $221 million
April 19th, 2011 - 10:22 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattLondon, April 19 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Telegraph has reported that an apartment in London has been bought for 135.4 million pounds. That figure is massive because when converted to the dollar, the flat is $221 million.
It was an Ukrainian millionaire who bought the apartment. The ironic part of the whole situation is that the apartment is not even furnished. It has only walls and more work needs to be done. According to the report, the apartment still needs about $100 million before it can be completed. The apartment is part of a complex located next to Knightsbridge.
The complex is valued at massive 1 billion pounds and it contains 45 apartments. The buyer of the apartment used his company named to make the purchase. According to the Land registry documents that were cited by The Telegraph, the new owner used the name Water Property Holdings to buy the project.
The report called the apartment complex the most expensive residential property in the United Kingdom. Almost all the apartments have been bought and just like the last one sold, the buyers used the names of offshore companies to acquire the properties.
