LFW advances winter/festive edition to August
April 5th, 2011 - 10:58 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, April 5 (IANS) The dates for the winter/festive edition of the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) have been advanced and the event will now be held Aug 17-21 to provide designers and buyers ample time to plan and execute orders as per the requirements of the growing local market.
“Lakme Fashion Week stands for talent, innovations and undertaking strategic decisions directed to boost the business of fashion. On the basis of the feedback received from our stakeholders and guidance of the LFW advisory board, we have advanced the dates for upcoming season to help designers-buyers plan their business accordingly,” said Anil Chopra, CEO, Lakme Lever, in a statement.
The event will commence a month prior to its previous seasons to enable designers ship their merchandise to stores so customers can make purchases for the forthcoming winter-festive season.
The next season will see India’s talented designers in prĂȘt and couture showcasing their garments on the ramp, as also new talent and initiatives to promote the Indian fashion industry.
“With winter/festive 2011, we look forward to widening our connect with both designers, domestic and international buyers, besides taking ahead our active online engagement programme to the next level,” said Ravi Krishnan, managing director, IMG South Asia and Senior Vice President of IMG.
The recently concluded LFW summer/resort edition saw 78 designers, over 200 buyer registrations, 16 sponsors and partners across different industries participate in the event.
