eyeballJan 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Body art has found a new meaning in the prisons. In a recent episode of the “Lockup”, a show on MSNBC, it was found that some of the inmates chose to color themselves red and blue- in the eye! The shocking new trend is being considered to be the latest thing in body art and body piercing. What makes one feel even more queasy about the news is the fact that these inmates do not take professional help to go about it; instead, they prefer to do it themselves, with the help of the information that is available on the internet.

To be honest, eye tattooing has been there for a pretty long time, but it is called corneal tattoo and is a safe method. It is also done with professional help, that is, the doctors are the ones who do it. However, the latest fad shows the prisoners going about filling the entire white part of their eyes with some solid color, red or blue. Two of the inmates, Paul Inman and David Boltjes were the first ones to go on and do it.

Both the men got the tattoo done with injections filled with color. Of course, they admitted that the experience was highly painful, very similar to having an ice pick stab in the eye. Moreover, they confessed that it felt like having something constantly in the eye. Of course, the trend was not much approved of by the prison authorities, and neither by the other inmates. The tattoos are permanent, and having done without the necessary precautions, run high risks of getting infected.
