Krispy Kreme Cheeseburger To Be Introduced At The Wisconsin State Fair

August 18, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): A cheese burger placed between the two halves of a doughnut has been in circulation right from 2006. The so called Krispy Kreme Cheeseburger had been popularized when ‘Gateway Grizzlies’, an independent baseball team started offering the delicious food item in exchange for money at their baseball park located in Sauget, Illinois. This special cheeseburger had originally been created by Chandler Goff, a chef at the Decatur. He had named it the Luther Burger then.
However, its fame spread via the baseball fans and soon ESPN, Sports Illustrated and CNN featured the Grizzlies burger in their reports. Paula Deen of the TV cooking added an egg to it and said that she simply loved it.
While the very concept of a Krispy Kreme Cheeseburger, KKC in short may sound unbelievable, the people who tried it seem to like the taste. It is prepared by slicing a doughnut into two halves which are then grilled and become the outside portions of a sandwich. The sugared portion then comes in contact with the meat and the cheese. The health freaks however, do not approve of such food.
The KKC had been seen at the Massachusetts fair last year and is expected to be there at the state fairs of Kentucky and Wisconsin to be held this year.
The Machine Shed, a restaurant reportedly told the Milwaukee Journal that they expected to sell over 3,500 Krispy Kreme Cheeseburgers on the first three days of the Wisconsin state fair. More than a fourth of its customers are also in favor of parting with an extra buck for a side order of bacon covered with chocolate, the report said.
With the KKC getting rave reviews all across the nation, this tasty snack is likely to become even more popular within a very short time. The closing down of Chef Goff’s restaurant does not seem to have affected the sales or the popularity of the Krispy Kreme Cheeseburger.
A few reports have hinted that the KKC might be acquired by Wendy’s fast food chain converting it into a nationwide phenomenon soon. However, there have been no such deals as yet.
While the healthy eaters as well as the cardiologists can certainly take comfort from this fact, the KKC seems to have gained a lot of followers and the indulgent eaters may not have to wait too long for yet another deadly but delicious addition to their list of fast food favourites.
