Iowa teen makes her prom dress with gum wrappers

Apr 13 (THAINDIAN NEWS) An Iowa teenager is all excited about her prom because her dress is one of a kind, as it is made out of gum wrappers. Elizabeth Rasmuson wanted to stand out in her prom, so she made the exclusive dress out of blue and white wrappers from Wrigley’s ‘5 gum’. For her date, she even made a matching vest, so that they could stand out as a couple.
Elizabeth said that she got the idea for her innovative dress, when she came to know that someone had made a dress out of duct tape. As the dress is made from gum wrappers, so the couple had to collect the gum wrappers for a long time too. They started collecting them in August 2009, and called it quits when they reached 200.
While Elizabeth was making the dress, she faced a major problem when she realized that the wrappers break easily. Then she improvised by, coating her dress with a vinyl topcoat, which would prevent the wrappers from breaking.
