Hindi institute’s golden jubilee celebrations in Delhi
March 16th, 2011 - 1:41 pm ICT by IANSAgra, March 16 (IANS) Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal will inaugurate the year-long golden jubilee celebrations of Agra’s Central Hindi Institute in the national capital on March 28.
The Central Hindi Institute was established in 1961 as an educational arm of the then union education ministry to promote Hindi globally.
K. Vijay Kumar, the director of the institute, told mediapersons here that Sibal would release books, magazines and also launch a portal at the inaugural function.
Chandra Kant Tripathi, registrar of the institute, told IANS: “After the inaugural, subsequent year-long programmes would be held in Agra. We will take the students studying in Agra to Delhi in buses.”
Students from more than 25 countries are currently studying Hindi at the Agra headquarters.
Tripathi said a multi-purpose auditorium is also being constructed.
The Central Hindi Institute has significantly contributed to popularising Hindi globally and standardising the language. Work on a Hindi corpus and dictionaries in several languages is continuing.
“For over half a century thousands of people from all over the world have been trained in teaching Hindi in their respective countries, from Fiji to China. The students from non-Hindi speaking states are provided special training at the institute,” Tripathi said.
