Aug 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The thong is out, granny panties are in again! A recent survey carried out in United States and United Kingdom has found that ladies are throwing out their G-strings and opting for the more comfortable granny panties. The sales of the panties have increased by 42 percent in the last three months a report mentioned. However, the surge has left the Lingerie retailers wondering about the reasons behind the trend change.

Some leading Lingerie retailers have maintained that the sudden upsurge has not happened all of a sudden. They have voiced that the demand for larger styles or granny panties have surged due to the patronage of some stars who have gone for an “underwear-as-outerwear” trend. Many have said that the sale have increased after Lady Gaga went on to flaunt some of her granny panties. However, some other retailers have placed comfort over style as the governing factor behind choice. According to them it is more comfortable for a woman to slip in those granny panties than to have G-Strings sticking up the butt. Lingerie manufacturer Rigby & Peller has maintained that it has seen a 15 percent change in choice of customers this year. The same reports came from Figleaves that says that the sales of granny panties are up by 28 percent. Some Lingerie makers are also thinking of removing thongs altogether from some of their ranges keeping in mind the present trend.

Creative director of Rigby & Peller has reportedly said to media sources that this season “big is definitely beautiful, they are sexy as well as comfortable”. According to the creative director, it is not the old granny panties that are in but a more detailed work that include lace, ruffles and accessories.
