choi-292x250 Washington DC, Feb 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Gay military rights advocate Lt. Dan Choi has been called back for active duty, according to reports. Photographer Jeff Sheng, in a blog post, confirmed this news. Lt. Dan Choi was all set to appear at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s Creating Change conference, but he will now not be able to attend it, as he has been called back to serve in the military.

Photographer Jeff Sheng wrote in a blog post on Bilerico.com that despite the fact that Lt. Dan Choi was facing an Army committee recommending he be discharged under “don’t ask, don’t tell,” still his commanding officer was highly supportive of the Arabic translator and the West Point graduate. Dan became one of the biggest supporters of chucking the ‘Don’t ask, Don’t Tell’ policy that is prevalent in the military. When he announced that he wanted to be a supporter against this policy to Rachel Maddow, then he was certainly in dire straits, as he also feared losing his job in the military. He has publicly shown his support for gay marriage, at Decision Day protests in Los Angeles, Meet in the Middle in Fresno last May and also at the National Equality March in Washington D.C. in October 2009.
