Washington, Mar 24 (ANI): James Gandolfini has signed on to star alongside Denzel Washington and John Travolta in “The Taking of Pelham 123.”
The Columbia Pictures remake will be directed by Tony Scott, and will see Gandolfini playing the mayor of New York City.
Travolta plays a criminal who, along with his gang, holds a packed subway car hostage and makes a ransom demand, reports Variety.
Denzel Washington plays Zachary “Z” Garber, the chief detective of security for the subway.
Filming for the movie has already begun, with Scott directing from a script he penned with David Koepp.
The film is a remake of the original thriller novel The Taking of Pelham One Two Three by Morton Freedgood and its two film adaptations.
The movie is scheduled to his the big screen on July 31, this year. (ANI)
