Chico, July 21 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A flashy clothing store, which targets teens, is being criticized for starting to produce clothes for pregnant women as people expect that the clothes are meant for pregnant teenagers.
Forever 21 has released a new range of clothes for pregnant women called “Love 21 Maternity.” And the clothing store based in L.A will be targeting the 5 most rampant teen pregnancy states in the US.
Critics are saying the clothing store is selling to pregnant teens and encouraging teen girls to get pregnant.
The company has answered those critics in a statement released through its vice president, Larry Meyer. He said it was only a “coincidence” that their new range of clothes is being distributed to those teenage pregnancy prone areas in the US as their stores were already located there.
The statement by the company said that, “Forever 21 did not create, design or distribute Love 21 Maternity to target, or appeal specifically to pregnant teens. Any relationship between teen pregnancy rates and the locations of our stores is unintentional. It’s just very coincidental that these department stores are in some of the states that people have raised concern.”
Meyer said the majority of the company’s clients are over 18 and this new clothing line was made for their older customers.
