March 31st, 2011 - 8:14 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, Mar 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Forbes has released its list of the best places to retire. The list does not rank the states but just give the list out in alphabetical order.
According to Forbes, factors considered for states to be on the list include weather conditions, availability of doctors and others but Forbes say it all comes down to the two factors of cost of living and tax burden.
In all seventeen states in the United States were featured in the list. The list compiled in alphabetical order consist of Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah and West Virginia.
Forbes explained why some states did not make the list despite the fact that they are known to have low tax rates. In the case of Texas, though it was identified that the state has one of the lowest state income tax rates but other taxes make living in the state costly. The state has one of the highest sales taxes in the United States. Texas also has the third-highest property tax in the United States.
The list would be published in print on the 11th of April.
