clipboard0114Nov. 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The first state dinner held on the night of Tuesday saw Michelle Obama- The First Lady in a glittering gown created by the Indian designer Naeem Khan. The first lady made a reputation of being fashionably conscious and now it seems she has made Naeem Khan the talk of town. The gown that the hostess wore, was strapless with an “abstract floral patters” formed with beads. Along to go with it, she had a matching wrap.

The 51-year old designer, Naeem Khan has not only dressed the first lady, but his profile includes dresses created for Carrie Underwood, Eva “The Desperate Housewives” Longoria Parker, Beyonce Knowles among many more. Born in Mumbai, he is an American fashion designer who runs his own business. ‘Naeem Khan’ (the designer’s clothes line) was launched in the year of 2003, and the designer himself is the CEO of the company. Among his recently held events is the Spring 2010 Trunk show, which was held in Oct. and Nov. 2009, in a hoard of places like New-York, Chicago, California, Denver etc. He also has his stores not only in the US but also in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Russia and the Middle East.

The party saw the Indian PM- Dr. Manmohan Singh and and wife, Gursharan Kaur attending as a guest. At this event, it seemed only appropriate that Michelle Obama would go for a gown made by an Indian designer. The gown was for the evening, but when it came to the morning wear, the first lady once again went for an Indian-American designer, this time choosing Rachel Roy’s custom made skirt.
